TOP > Maintenance > Cleaning the Product > Cleaning Using the Cleaning Kit Cleaning Using the Cleaning Kit The cleaning procedure using the cleaning kit is as follows: • Never use organic solvents, such as thinner and benzine to clean the product. • For details on the cleaning kit, refer to the manual attached to the cleaning kit. Make sure that the product is powered off, and disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet. 2. Open the top cover. • Open the top cover fully to prevent accidental drop of the cover.3. Turn the head lock lever (1) clockwise to unlock the print head. • The print head and its surroundings are hot after printing. Be careful not to get burned.• Touching the edge of the print head with your bare hand could cause injury.4. Pull the feed lock latch (2) to unlock the feed roller and media sensor assembly (3). The feed roller and media sensor assembly (3) flipped open.5. Pull the media guide (4) away from the product. 6. Remove the media and ribbon if they are already loaded. 7. Clean the dirt on the print head (5), ribbon roller (6), platen roller (7) and pressure roller (8) using a cotton swab/cloth dabbed with cleaning liquid. 8. Clean the dirt on the pressure plate (9) using the cotton cloth dabbed with cleaning liquid. You can remove the pressure plate to clean it easily.a. Push the tab (10) up to release the pressure plate (9). b. While supporting the pressure plate (9), loosen screw (11) until the front of the plate falls , and then pull the pressure plate (9) forward to remove it . c. To assemble the pressure plate (9), insert the protrusion of the product's center frame securely into the mounting hole on the leading-edge side of the pressure plate (9). d. Align the position of the screw (11) to the mounting hole on the front side of the pressure plate (9) , and tighten them . e. Push the center of the pressure plate (9) to latch it in place. 9. Clean the dirt on the media shafts (12), feed roller (13), media sensor (14) and ribbon roller (15) using the cotton swab/cloth dabbed with cleaning liquid. 10. Clean the bottom of the feed roller and media sensor assembly (3) using the cotton cloth dabbed with cleaning liquid. You can remove the media sensor cover to clean the surface easily.a. Loosen the thumbscrew (16) attached to the media sensor cover , and remove the media sensor cover (17) . b. To assemble the media sensor cover (17), insert the tab of the media sensor cover (17) into the slot as shown. c. Attach the media sensor cover (17) using the thumbscrew (16). 11. Turn the head lock lever (1) counterclockwise to lock the print head , and then press the feed roller and media sensor assembly (3) down until the feed lock latch (2) is locked .
