Unlock the Printer LCD Using the NFC Interface

Use the NFC interface to unlock the printer LCD from [Easy Printer Login] when the printer has not been added to the printer list.

You can also use this function when performing the initial setup of a new printer. Mobile All-In-One Tool transfers the required password information to the printer through the NFC interface. This lets you unlock the printer LCD and continue the initial setup on the printer.

　

Prerequisites:

•	Make sure that NFC is turned on for the Android device. NFC is always on for iPhone.

•	Make sure the target printer is powered on, NFC is enabled, and Power Save Mode is disabled.

The following procedure explains how to unlock the printer LCD by retrieving the default password from SATO ID AUTH or by providing the printer password.

Unlock Using the Default Password From SATO ID AUTH

Prerequisites:

•	Make sure you are logged in to the application with your SATO ID AUTH account on the [Home] page.

If you are not logged in to the SATO ID AUTH account, [Get Default Password] is not available.

For more details on logging in to SATO ID AUTH, refer to Logging In to SATO ID AUTH.

•	This feature supports only printers configured with a unique default password. These printers include a Default password label in the package.

1.	On the [Home] page, tap [Easy Printer Login].

2.	Tap [Unlock Printer LCD / Initial Setup].

3.	On the [Unlock Printer LCD / Initial Setup] dialog, select an available [User] access level.

4.	Tap [Get Default Password].

5.	Hold the Android device or iPhone close to the printer's NFC antenna. The NFC antenna location is marked with a symbol.

The USB serial number and the default password are retrieved and entered automatically. To show the password, tap .

• If the printer password has been changed, you cannot use the retrieved password to unlock the printer LCD. Use the changed password instead. • If you lost the password and need help logging in to the printer, contact your SATO technical support center or submit a request through the following links: For global users: Global Helpdesk. For users in Japan: Japan Helpdesk.

6.	Tap [Apply].

7.	Hold the Android device or iPhone close to the printer's NFC antenna.

A dialog shows that the command to unlock the printer LCD has been sent successfully.

8.	Confirm the operation on the printer LCD, and then continue to operate the printer LCD menu.

Unlock by Providing the Printer Password

1.	On the [Home] page, tap [Easy Printer Login].

2.	Tap [Unlock Printer LCD / Initial Setup].

3.	On the [Unlock Printer LCD] dialog, enter the [User] access level.

4.	Enter the [USB Serial] number.

You can also retrieve the USB serial number using one of the following options:

◦	If you have the Default password label that comes with the printer package, tap [Scan Code] and scan the QR code for the USB serial number.

The USB serial number is retrieved and entered automatically.

　

◦	Retrieve the USB serial number from the printer by using the NFC interface.

Tap [Scan NFC] and hold the Android device or iPhone close to the printer's NFC antenna. The NFC antenna location is marked with a symbol.

The USB serial number is retrieved and entered automatically.

5.	Enter the password.

You can also retrieve the default password using the following option:

◦	If you have the Default password label that comes with the printer package, tap [Scan Code] and scan the barcode for the password.

The default password is retrieved and entered automatically. To show the password, tap .

• If the printer password has been changed, you cannot use the retrieved password to unlock the printer LCD.
