Easy RFID Configuration

Easy RFID Configuration helps you configure UHF RFID printers quickly and consistently. This feature supports only SATO UHF RFID tags. When you select a supported SATO UHF RFID tag, the application retrieves predefined RFID settings from a database and applies them to the printer. This reduces the need to configure RFID settings manually.

This feature is available only for CL4NX, CL4NX-J, CL4NX Plus, CL4NX-J Plus, CL4-SXR, CL6NX Plus, CL6NX-J Plus, CL6-SXR, CT4-LX, and S84NX series (International Model) printers.

Prerequisites:

•	Make sure that NFC is turned on for the Android device. NFC is always on for iPhone.

•	Make sure the target printer is powered on, NFC is enabled, and Power Save Mode is disabled.

•	Make sure the printer is RFID-enabled and is equipped with a UHF RFID module.

•	If the printer supports the printer login feature, you must log in to the printer from the application before you continue.

1.	On the [Home] page, tap [Easy RFID Configuration].

2.	When the login confirmation dialog appears, do one of the following:

◦	If the printer supports the printer login feature and you have not logged in to the printer, tap [Login].

For instructions, refer to Log In to the Printer Using the NFC Interface.

After you log in, return to the [Easy RFID Configuration] screen.

　

◦	If the printer does not support the printer login feature, or you have already logged in to the printer from the application, tap [OK].

3.	Read the disclaimer message, and then tap [OK].

4.	Hold the Android device or iPhone close to the printer's NFC antenna when prompted. The NFC antenna location is marked with a symbol.

Two NFC data transfers are required:

◦	The first transfer retrieves the printer data.

◦	The second transfer retrieves the printer status.

Keep following the prompts and hold the Android device or iPhone close to the NFC antenna again until the second transfer is complete.

5.	After the printer data is retrieved, the [Easy RFID Configuration] screen displays the frequency region, printer model, and the [SATO Label Item Number] field.

6.	Specify the [SATO Label Item Number] by using one of the following methods:

◦	Select a label item number from the drop-down list.

◦	Tap to scan the label item number barcode on the RFID tag package or the QR Code on the label core.

◦	Enter the label item number manually.

7.	Tap [Retrieve RFID Data].

8.	Hold the Android device or iPhone close to the printer's NFC antenna when prompted.

Two NFC data transfers are required:

◦	The first transfer retrieves the RFID settings.

◦	The second transfer retrieves the general printer settings.

Keep following the prompts and hold the Android device or iPhone close to the NFC antenna again until the second transfer is complete.

9.	Review the RFID settings displayed on the screen, and then tap [Apply].

• The RFID printer settings vary depending on the printer and the selected RFID label. • To ensure compatibility with the PWP (Print Write Print) function, the printer should be equipped with one of the following firmware versions: ◦ For CL4NX, CL4NX-J, CL4NX Plus, CL4NX-J Plus, CL6NX Plus, and CL6NX-J Plus, the firmware version must be 1.14.0-r1 or later. ◦ For CT4-LX, the firmware version must be 6.5.0-r1 or later. • If a negative [Tag Offset] value is detected, the [Print Mode] is set to [Continuous].

10.	When the confirmation dialog appears, tap [OK] to continue.

11.	Hold the Android device or iPhone close to the printer's NFC antenna when prompted.

Three NFC data transfers are required:

◦	The first transfer verifies the printer model.

◦	The second transfer applies the Easy RFID settings.

◦	The third transfer applies the Easy RFID antenna settings.

Keep following the prompts and hold the Android device or iPhone close to the NFC antenna again until the third transfer is complete.

12.	When the RFID settings are applied successfully, a success status screen is displayed.

　

For CL4NX and CL4NX-J printers, adjust the physical position of the RFID antenna according to the requirements of the label and inlay that you use.

Rotate the dial (a) to align the pointer (b) to the color position indicated on the [Easy RFID Configuration] screen.

Reboot the printer after you have adjusted the RFID antenna.

　

For CL4NX Plus, CL4NX-J Plus, CL4-SXR, CL6NX Plus, CL6NX-J Plus, CL6-SXR, CT4-LX, and S84NX (International Model) printers, reboot the printer so that it can automatically adjust the antenna position to suit the RFID tag.

• If the printer is in operation, please reboot after the ongoing job is completed.

13.	Tap [OK] to return to the start of the [Easy RFID Configuration] screen.

Repeat steps 4 to 13 if you want to perform another configuration for a different printer.

• If the printer supports the printer login feature, you must log in to the printer from the application before you continue. Tap [Verify Status] on the [Easy Printer Login] page to check whether printer login is required. You can also log in to the printer using the NFC interface from this page. For more information, refer to Verify the Printer Login Status and Log In to the Printer Using the NFC Interface. • To exit [Easy RFID Configuration], tap on the upper-left corner of the screen.

• Perform a test print or encoding operation to make sure that the applied RFID settings work correctly.
